Dog training thoughts - barking at neighbours

Neighbours or people passing by the house simply don’t bother some dogs. However, for other dogs, a neighbour walking by provides the perfect opportunity to show off their communication skills. This can present problems for lots of people - although some people don'tr worry when their dog barks as they just see it as means of their dog communicating - any6one visiting my house will know that one of my dogs LOVES to bark and I don't mind so long as he does not carry it on too long or get wound up doing it! LOL

Tommy the brave hero dog

Well we have had an eventful morning. .... Mr Fox came back and managed to get past the first line of defences and into the bantam pen. He was busy trying to get into the coop at the birds when Tommy sounded the alarm.

Tommy needs an award for his persistence as I tried to ignore him to start with and stay snuggled in bed but our hero was not giving up so easily! He kept insisting we get up until I realised something was wrong.

Fireworks - now is the time to get ready - while there is loads of time to prepare

Help your dog or cat to cope with the noises of fireworks

So many people have problems with pets at firework time and think this is just something we have to cope with. Unfortunatly as firework season gets longer and longer we can't really just leave it and wait for the nosie to stop we need to what we can to help our pets cope.

Dog treats that are not only tasty but healthy as well :)

In recent years there has been a lot of bad press about commercial dog food and we are more aware than ever before about the negative effects of additives and colourants, not only in our own food but also in the food we feed to our animals.

I try to eat a healthy diet and when my children were growing up I also tried to make sure they ate good quality food made from fresh tasty ingredients. It was not long before I began to think about the diet of my pets, especially my dogs…

Toys are fun

Stan loves to play and we enjoy lots of different games. The photo shows him playing tug with one of his favourite toys. Tug is a very popular game and as you can see it is one Stan always takes part in fully but a word of caution - games are a very important part of bonding with your pet but tug games do get your furry pal excited and wound up so if you have a dog that is susceptible to stress problems play rough games like tug in moderation and mix with some calm problem solving ones as well. Stan's shape sorter is a firm favourite in our house.
